Apply for the cat or dog you’re interested in adopting. Fill out the form completely so we can learn your/your family’s wants and needs in a pet — the more personalized, the better. Please allow three business days for a reply; we’re an all-volunteer organization and appreciate your patience!

The pet’s foster parent takes time to vet all applications for the pet. If your application indicates a potential fit, the foster parent will reach out to you to discuss the app. Please note foster volunteers may contact and schedule meets with multiple applicants in order to determine the best fit for the pet.

If you and the foster volunteer agree to move forward, a meet-and-greet will be scheduled over video chat or in person. Please bring all members of your household; if you’re meeting a dog and doing so in person, please bring any other dogs in your home.

If you’re adopting a dog, we’ll arrange a quick visit to your home to ensure it’s safe and secure for canines. Adopters of cats and kittens can skip straight to the next step.

If you’re selected to adopt the pet and ready to move forward, please allow the foster volunteer time to connect with an NWAC adoption coordinator. At their earliest opportunity, the coordinator will text you a link to complete the adoption paperwork, payment, and optional donation through Shelterluv.

When NWAC confirms your adoption is complete, connect with your pet’s foster parent to arrange a mutually agreeable date and time to pick up your new pet. This pick-up may be a few to several days after receipt of the completed adoption paperwork, depending on schedules. Congrats on your new fur friend!
