Here’s Why NWAC Volunteers Rock
We have had some crazy days recently. It’s unbelievable but kitten season 2022 seems to have already started (three litters already). The need for fosters continues to grow, especially for adult cats and young, active dogs who need an experienced person to help them become the dog that people want to adopt. Many, many people are reaching out to rescue these days because their lives have changed and they are no longer able to provide the structure that their dog requires to be a good family member.
We have also had some amazing volunteers step forward. One family offered to provide day care in their home for NWAC foster dogs. Although we have many pups that would love to spend the day with an at-home family (and 16-year-old who wants to be a dog trainer) rather than stay at home while their NWAC human fosters go to work, we are respectful of the daycare family’s time.
Other fosters have also stepped up to the plate these past couple of weeks. Little Bailey’s foster noticed that he has started to cough and so took him into Vista for an exam. The verdict: congestive heart failure. Bailey is back with his foster but it is now a hospice situation. A calm, quiet, loving place for his final days. Sometimes that is all you can do.
If you become a foster volunteer with NWAC, you’ll learn how joyful and deeply gratifying it is to give homeless animals a safe, loving space. Want to get involved? Apply now to join NWAC’s foster team!
